Weigh-in Wednesday

Weigh In Wednesday

Hi friends! It’s that time of the week again, Weigh-in Wednesday! I was happy to step on the scale yesterday morning and see this:

That’s another 1.6 lbs lost this week, yay! That puts me down to 193, which is the lowest weight I’ve been maybe since age 15 or something crazy like that–this also officially puts me at EIGHTY POUNDS LOST since October of 2012. I am super excited!! I can’t believe I only have 20 lbs left to reach 100 lbs lost! I was hoping to get down to 189 by Gencon (which starts the week after next), but I don’t think that’s realistic at this point. I will be VERY close though–and since one of my New Year’s goals was to be at 189 by Gencon, it makes me feel good that I can really accurately predict where I will be and when I will be there within 5 lbs; that really makes goal-setting a lot easier and more realistic for me.

This past week I earned 25 activity points and ate all of those plus 12 of my weeklies. I didn’t end up biking on Wednesday (rain) or Saturday and Sunday (that was pure laziness), but I still fit in a 2-mile walking DVD on Sunday and that at least kept me busy. I did do two sessions of 60-minute zumba, and that always helps. This week, I’ll have 34 activity points if I do everything that I currently have on the calendar (rain-dependent, once again!). I haven’t posted a workout schedule forEVA, so this week I’m looking at the following:

Tuesday (yesterday): 60 minutes zumba
Wednesday: 2-mile walking DVD or short bike ride
Thursday: 60 minutes zumba
Friday: 2 mile ride to and from work on the bike
Saturday: 60 minute, 6 mile bike ride
Sunday: 60 minute, 6 mile bike ride
Monday: 2 mile ride to and from work on bike

Yeah, that’s a total of 34 activity points–although my WW app on my Droid phone has a cool little thingy where you can plug in your weight and the number of minutes of “low, moderate, or high intensity” workout–I tried doing this with my zumba classes and it looks like I may actually be earning 9 activity points for a 60 minute session of zumba versus the 6 points that I always give myself. Oh well–I’m still going to count zumba as 6 points because that has been working for me, and I’d rather be conservative on activity point estimates so I don’t overeat.

In addition, I took my measurements yesterday morning; I woke up way earlier than I needed to (long story) so I had time to do so. Here are my current measurements in inches:

Bust: 39
Waist: 34
Hips: 47 (As you can see, I am TOTALLY a pear shape lol)
Thighs: 26
Upper arms: 13

Since I hadn’t measured myself since July 8 (3 weeks ago), I have lost 1 inch off my thighs, 1 inch off my hips, and half an inch off my upper arms. WOOOHOO! I really should keep track of those every week. I’m also starting to feel like I may need to size down to a 16 in pants…my 18’s that I bought at Goodwill a couple of months ago are starting to get loose!

I’m on a roll…hope I can keep this up! Last year I was FLOORED when I lost 2 lbs after Gencon, considering how much junk I ate and how much beer I had, however, there is so much walking that happens there that you just kind of burn it off, so we’ll see if something similar happens this year. Only 2 weeks until the Con! 🙂

Have a great week, everyone–see you next Wednesday if I can’t think of anything interesting to throw on the blog between now and then!

Weigh-in Wednesday

Weigh In Wednesday

Here we are again, linking up with Heather and Ash for yet another weigh-in Wednesday! Here’s what the scale said yesterday morning:

I realized a few weeks ago that I could just crop my ugly feet out of the picture, lol, so that’s what I’ve started doing. At any rate, that’s a loss of 1.2 pounds again this week! This puts me at 194.6, which is officially my lowest weight on this weight loss journey, with a total loss of 78.4 pounds. It’s also officially less than what my driver’s license says I weigh; granted, my driver’s license says “195”, so it’s only a 0.4 lb difference, but I don’t care! It’s pretty exciting. I REALLY need to track my measurements, I have been slacking on that. I usually do that in the morning though, and typically I am SO rushed that it’s hard for me to squeeze it in…I can barely manage to wake up 5 minutes early on Tuesdays for weigh-in day!

I got about 15/16 miles in on the bike this past week, and did two 60 minute sessions of zumba. I sweated a lot! I also ate all of the 28 activity points I earned plus an extra 12 of my 49 weekly points. This upcoming week, I should probably get around 30 or so activity points. I think I’ll be “resting” today–it’s raining outside so I couldn’t ride my bike to work, and we have to go over to Bre and Scott’s tonight for a LARP planning meeting…GENCON IS ONLY 3 WEEKS FROM TODAY! I can’t believe it. I’m super stoked! Speaking of which, here is me in my awesome costume for our LARP, which takes place on the Titanic:

I think I had posted this before, but I didn’t have the hat/fascinator at that point. I totally look like I belong in the early 20th century, am I right?!?

I think that’s it for now–hope you all have great weigh-ins!

Oh em gee, what IS it, you ask?!?!

OK so I have known about buying a house FOREVER but haven’t posted anything on the blog in case something fell through. We made an offer on an adorable little 2 bedroom brick bungalow with a huge 3 car garage on APRIL FRIGGIN’ 29TH. It took SO LONG for the loan to go through that I was worried it wasn’t going to happen. But it did, and we closed on the house last Friday at 4pm. Joy and rapture–I own my own home! I can’t believe it. This may not seem like a big deal to many of you who already own homes or who have done this before, but I am so excited to own my own home at 26 years old. It is a huge milestone in my life and I am thrilled about it! We have to be in our current apartment until August 23rd in order to not break the lease, so we have about 3 weeks to move once we get the keys next week. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! (Also sidenote to those of you who currently rent who want to own someday…it is so exciting to buy a home and totally worth it, but it is a logistical freaking NIGHTMARE to go from renting to buying. Just a forewarning).

I can’t wait to be in my own house in a month. All my friends are having a party for me, see? 🙂

Well, at least I like to pretend they are all my friends, lol.

That’s it for now, I just wanted to make the big announcement. Lol you all thought I was pregnant when you read the title, didn’t you?! NOPE. 🙂

Have a great Tuesday, and see you tomorrow for weigh-in Wednesday!

NSV Thursday–Thinking Bikini

Hello again! It is yet another beautiful day here in the Hoosier state, and I am happy to report a couple of NSVs.

First, one of the marketing folks came over yesterday to talk with my boss, and as she saw me, she gasped and said, “GIRL! You are really just wasting away to nothing, aren’t you??” And while I do understand that I’m honestly NOT wasting away to anything (lol), I took it as a “you’ve lost weight!” compliment and I was like “AWWWWWWWW THANKS!” lol although I am NOT endorsing wasting away to anything, lol. I did take it as a compliment though and treated it as such. No one on campus outside of my office really knows that I’ve been on a weight loss journey for a year and a half, BUT they are noticing. That is a big deal!

The other NSV this week is that I am seriously contemplating bikinis. I mean, for real people. Now here’s the thing–I don’t think it’s ever going to get warm enough this summer to actually go swimming–for serious–it has been SOOOOO cool outside thanks to the good ‘ole Polar Vortex of 2014. However, even if it did, I’m so busy for the rest of the summer (and I don’t know anyone with a pool) that this year is NOT the year to buy a bathing suit. If I DID, though, I would seriously consider a high-waisted bikini. Have ya’ll SEEN the beautiful suits that are being made for big women this year? They are amazing! Here is just one of the many examples:

bikini 1

That one is from Monif C. .Gorgeous, am I right?

At any rate, I have totally been picturing myself in one of these, and when doing so, I do not actually get the immediate urge to vomit as I may have 75 pounds ago. In fact, I think I’d probably look pretty stellar. One thing that I have GAINED during this long process of losing weight is a much higher level of confidence. Even if I don’t look like Beyonce or Sofia Vergara or whoever, I can rock a damn bikini. Case closed.

And next summer–you WILL see me rocking a bikini, whether you like it or not. Get ready for my white-ass legs, ya’ll! (My family is Scottish and I do NOT tan well, lol).

Hope you all are having great NSVs this week–these are the things that matter more than ANYTHING else!

Happy almost weekend!

Weigh In Wednesday

WIW 7.15

Damn, I forgot to send the pic of my scale number again this week!! Stupid pms and making my brain forget about everything. OK, so obv as I just made an allusion to PMS, it’s TOM week. Joy and rapture. I have had a friggin’ headache every day since TOM came to visit on Sunday, and it is consistently a pain in the ass. Well, I guess it’s a pain in the head, but still. It is driving me nuts ! I’m poppin’ tylenol like crazy, but since it’s doing double duty on cramps and headache…well, yeah. Sorry for the TMI rant y’all, I didn’t expect that at all this morning, lol!

Despite all of that nonsense, I did manage to lose 1.2 lbs this week, so I’m back down at 195.8 lbs. My lowest EVA on this weight loss journey is 195.4, so I am close to getting back down there. I’d love to be at 189 by Gencon (in 29 days), but I’m not sure if that’s feasible. My loss this week does make me think, however, that last week’s gain must’ve been muscle. I didn’t work out as much as last week, but I still managed to get 23 activity points in with one session of zumba last Thursday and 12 miles biking total over the week.

I was SURE I’d see a gain yesterday because of the fewer workouts and also because I met a great friend at the local Irish pub Friday night. 🙂 I had eaten cereal early that night as my dinner (I know, I know…cereal for dinner is not nutritionally sound…I probably do it more than I should lol), because I was planning on having 3 beers (Guinness, to be exact). I DID have those three beers, but wasn’t planning on eating any food. My friend, however, had other things in mind. Like nachos, grilled cheese with 4 DIFFERENT CHEESES ON IT and potato cakes, and fried oreos and ice cream. I shit you not people, this is what we ate that night. The waiter looked at us like we were insane when we wanted 4 different cheeses on the grilled cheese…lol. Granted, we split all of it, but I counted that I probably consumed about 30 points of food alone THAT NIGHT. To put that in perspective, I only get 32 daily points of food…that’s PER DAY. So yeah. Needless to say, I ate all of my activity points last week and most of my 49 extra weeklies… I finished the week with 15 remaining weeklies.

Aaaaaaaaand still I lost. My body is a mystery. But I’m not complaining! I think all the biking and muscle is revving up the metabolism again, so I just have to keep it up. This week, if all goes according to my workout plan, I’ll earn 31 activity points and bike 17 miles total!! Woohoo. I may do less than that, because that schedule doesn’t allow for a “rest” day, but I’m cool with that. Today I’m only riding my bike home from work because I left it here Monday–it was storming and I couldn’t ride home. So a quick 1 mile bike ride home is really like a rest day for me, because it feels like nothing. Isn’t that AMAZING? I’m trying to fathom riding a mile home (uphill-ish, btw) 75 pounds ago. Yeah. friggin’. right. !!

I will go back in and post the pic of my scale that says “–40.2” tomorrow morning, if I remember. But for now y’all are gonna have to trust me! Hope you have a great weigh-in!

NSV(s) Thursday

Howdy! It is an ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL day here, and I am stuck inside at work. Oh well. It is still nice to observe the beautiful-ness of the weather through my huge window!

I have a couple of NSVs this week that I’m excited to share. First, is the obvious that I biked 18 miles last week. I was SUPER proud of myself for this…that’s a lot of miles! I felt great while doing it, too. Exercise gets easier and more fun as you lose more weight, I promise! Sometimes it really sucks still…but mostly, it’s great.

On Tuesday evening I was REALLY pissed because I made a dinner that I was looking forward to, and it really didn’t turn out right. Long story short, the chicken didn’t get cooked, and I just really couldn’t do anything with it. So we had to settle for FAST ham and cheese sandwiches that were just blah. I was also really angry that I’d gained 0.6 lbs that morning, so there was that. We played at the taize church service that night, and I wanted NOTHING MORE than to get a giant DQ blizzard on the way home. I mean, not just the tiny little mini-blizzard that I’ll treat myself to every once in a blue moon…I mean like an xtra large cookie dough or peanut butter pie blizzard. It was calling my name. I wanted that ish SO BAD. BUT, I made Patrick drive past DQ, and settled for a small piece of angel food cake at home with fat free cool whip. It was only 5 points, whereas a giant blizzard woulda been like 40+ (not exaggerating here, people). So I was really proud of myself for that.

Yesterday morning, I had my Simplywell screening at work. Simplywell is a program where we get screened for health stuff (they take height, weight, blood pressure, 3 different types of cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood sugar) and then we participate in tracking health like thingies to get reduced $ on our health insurance premiums. When I went to get my screening last year in July, I was at 243 lbs. Yesterday, the scale weighed me in at 198. THAT IS A 45 LB DIFFERENCE, Y’ALL. I really wanted to be 50 lbs down, but that’s ok. 45 is still awesome…especially because as I sat waiting (lol, I first typed “weight-ing”) for my results, I thought…holy crap…if I lose 45 lbs between this year’s screening and NEXT year’s screening, I will be at 153!!! WHAT THE WHAT. So that was awesome. My cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure numbers were great, and all better than last year’s. My triglycerides are a little high and were higher than last year, but my diet is not the best (I will admit that every single day) and it’s understandable. I need to try and work on eating cleaner, I know. I met w/ the “health counselor” who told me my numbers were great, and I straight up was like “yeah well I’ve lost 75 lbs” (no shame, like Penelope on SNL) and she was like OMG AWESOME ETC ETC. So that was nice.

Last night, I went to a family cookout and saw a lot of family I hadn’t seen in a while. They were all so complimentary and it was SO nice, and my cousin Emily who is a physician’s asst was like “I can’t believe you’ve done all of this on your OWN. Like you don’t go to meetings or anything, that is amazing!” And then I explained to her that it hasn’t been on my own…much of it has been thanks to this blog, and to my AWESOME blogger buddies out there. Seriously (sappy time), you guys are all amazing and it has been incredible to see all of us traveling this journey together. I’d have NEVER lost 75 lbs without my supporters and readers, and for that, I thank you all. You are the best!

I think those are the NSVs for this week. Reading back through them, I don’t give two ish’s about that 0.6 lbs yesterday. The scale is just the scale. The NSVs are fo REAL. Yeah, this is me after patting myself on the back just now

Hope you all have a great Thursday–peace, y’all!

Weigh-in Wednesday

Frustrated this week!

Weigh In Wednesday

That’s 0.6 lbs up this week. Typically, I have a pretty good idea of whether or not I will gain, lose, or maintain when I step on the scale each Tuesday morning. Last week, I figured I’d gain or stay the same–I had eaten a lot and only gotten 18 activity points. This week, however, I was SURE that I’d lose when I stepped on the scale yesterday morning. I got 30 activity points this week between 1 zumba class and 18 miles of bike riding!! I also ate only my activity points in addition to my daily points as well as 10 of the 49 extra points. That is typically my formula for maximum weight loss. Sigh. Alas, I was disappointed to see a 0.6 gain.

I think that this must be muscle building from all the bike riding I’ve been doing–18 miles is a lot of bike riding in one week, probably more than I’ve ever done. There’s also a slight possibility that I am due for an upped dosage on my thyroid meds. Last time my thyroid meds needed upped, I either gained or maintained for an entire month and a half despite my best efforts to eat right and exercise. That was a year and four months ago, so it may be time for another upped dosage. I’ll get my blood drawn at the end of the week to check–I was supposed to do that 4 months ago, oops!

Either way, this is not going to de-rail me. I have been doing this weight-loss journey thing for almost 2 years now, and these weeks TOTALLY happen to everyone…does it make it less frustrating? No. But the difference is that I won’t let it get me down, make me quit, or spite-eat. (Which, btw, I have discovered that I am totally a spite-eater…a bit different than a stress-eater…I eat when I’m angry, lol). So, still chugging along over here. I do have some NSV’s this week that I’ll wait to share until tomorrow’s post, but I am focusing on those. They’re what matter, anyway!

Hope you all have great weigh-ins…see you tomorrow!
